File Cabinet Tools

The File Cabinet tools let you work with files and folders in your NetSuite account. You can search file names, list folder contents, resolve paths and internal IDs, and attach or detach files from records.

The following table lists the File Cabinet tools.

ns_attachFile	Attaches an existing File Cabinet file to a NetSuite record.
ns_detachFile	Removes a file's attachment to a record without deleting the file.
ns_getFolderByPath	Lists the files and folders directly in a specified folder.
ns_getIdFromPath	Resolves a file or folder path to its internal ID.
ns_getPathFromId	Resolves a file or folder internal ID to its complete path.
ns_searchFiles	Searches file names across accessible File Cabinet folders.

ns_attachFile

Attaches an existing File Cabinet file to a NetSuite record.

ns_detachFile

Removes a file's attachment to a record without deleting the file.

ns_getFolderByPath

Lists the files and folders directly in a specified folder.

ns_getIdFromPath

Resolves a file or folder path to its internal ID.

ns_getPathFromId

Resolves a file or folder internal ID to its complete path.

ns_searchFiles

Searches file names across accessible File Cabinet folders.

Your NetSuite role's file, folder, and record permissions still apply.

In addition, the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp includes File Cabinet MCP Apps. These apps provide interactive UIs for browsing folders, searching file names, uploading files, and sending supported file contents to the conversation. For more information, see File Cabinet MCP Apps.

Important:

Before reading, uploading, or replacing files through the File Cabinet MCP Apps, your account administrator must configure Allowed File Cabinet Access on the Custom Tools page. An empty list blocks these operations.
