Job Types

Job types fall into four main categories:

Application Maintenance Jobs

Table 19-1 Application Maintenance Jobs

Job Type	Description
Administration Mode	Changes the login level for a business process. If you select Administrators, all non-administrative users will be logged off from the application after job execution. To restore access to an application for all users, select All users. See What Application and System Settings Can I Specify?
Clear Cube	Performs a cube clearing operation. See Creating Clear Cube Jobs. Note: The system prevents this job from starting if it's scheduled to start while the daily maintenance process is running. Oracle recommends that you reschedule this job to start outside of the daily maintenance window. See Managing Daily Maintenance.
Compact Outline	Compacts the outline file of a cube. Compaction helps keep the outline file at an optimal size. Compacting the outline doesn't clear the data. Running this job won't push any changes from the business process to Oracle Essbase. See Improving Cube Performance. Note: The system prevents this job from starting if it's scheduled to start while the daily maintenance process is running. Merge Data Slices	Merges incremental data slices of an aggregate storage cube. Fewer slices improve a cube’s performance. You can merge all incremental data slices into the main database slice or merge all incremental data slices into a single data slice without changing the main database slice. You can optionally remove cells that have a value of zero. See Improving Cube Performance. Optimize Aggregation	Generates optimized views based on collected query tracking information in an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management reporting cube (PCM_REP). Refresh Database	Refreshes the application database. See Refreshing Application Databases. Restructure Cube	Performs a full restructure of a block storage cube to eliminate or reduce fragmentation. This will also remove empty blocks. Running this job won't push any changes from the business process to Essbase. See Improving Cube Performance. Import/Export Jobs

Job Type	Description
Import Audit	An EPM Automate command that imports data audit records from a ZIP file that you created by exporting audit data from an environment. See importAppAudit.
Import Cell-Level Security Definitions	Imports a cell-level security definition that was saved as a job. See Importing and Exporting Cell-Level Security Definitions.
Import Data	Imports data from a file in the repository into the application using the import data settings specified in the `Import Data` job type. See Importing Data. Note: The system prevents this job from starting if it's scheduled to start while the daily maintenance process is running. Oracle recommends that you reschedule this job to start outside of the daily maintenance window. See Managing Daily Maintenance.
Import Document to Library	A REST API that imports the content from a local source to the library in the specified upload location. See Import Library Documents.
Import Exchange Rates	Imports exchange rates for a simplified multicurrency application. See Importing Exchange Rates for a Simplified Multicurrency Application.
Import Job Console	An EPM Automate command that clones job console records using a ZIP file containing job console records exported from an environment. See importJobConsole.
Import Metadata	Imports metadata from a file in the repository into the application using the import metadata settings specified in an `import metadata` job. See Importing Metadata. Note: The system prevents this job from starting if it's scheduled to start while the daily maintenance process is running. Oracle recommends that you reschedule this job to start outside of the daily maintenance window. See Managing Daily Maintenance.
Import Security	A REST API that imports the security records or access control list (ACL) records from a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file. See Import Security.
Import User Variable Values	A REST API that imports user variable values from a file in the Planning repository into the application. See Import User Variable Values.
Import Valid Intersections	Runs a report that shows where data exists at invalid intersections. See Working with Valid Intersections.
Export Audit	A REST API that exports audit records to a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file. See Export Audit.
Export Cell-Level Security Definitions	Exports a cell-level security definition that was saved as a job. See Importing and Exporting Cell-Level Security Definitions.
Export Data	Performs a data export that was saved as a job. See Exporting Data. Note: The driver/column dimension in the Export Data job definition needs to be dense. Note: The system prevents this job from starting if it's scheduled to start while the daily maintenance process is running. Export Job Console	Exports records about the jobs in the Jobs console to a zip file titled `allJobDetails<date>`.zip. See Exporting Job Console Files.
Export Library Document	A REST API that exports documents from the library. See Export Library Documents.
Export Metadata	Exports metadata into a file using the settings specified in an `export metadata` job. See Exporting Metadata. Note: The system prevents this job from starting if it's scheduled to start while the daily maintenance process is running. Export Security	A REST API that exports the security records or access control list (ACL) records for specified users or groups to a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file. See Export Security.
Export User Variable Values	A REST API that exports user variable values from a Planning business process, including context-sensitive user variables. See Export User Variable Values.

Integration Jobs

Job Type	Description
Integration	Runs a data rule in Data Management or integration in Data Integration based on the parameters defined in the data rule or integration definition. See Scheduling a Data Rule, Integration, or Batch Definition to Run in the Job Scheduler.
Integration Batch	Runs a batch definition based on parameters defined in Data Management. See Scheduling a Data Rule, Integration, or Batch Definition to Run in the Job Scheduler.
Integration Maintenance Script	Runs a Maintenance Script based on parameters and variables in Data Management. See Scheduling Maintenance Scripts in the Job Scheduler.
Integration Pipeline	Runs a Pipeline definition. This job supports running a Pipeline based on the parameters and variables that were defined for the Pipeline in the Data Integration user interface; for example, Start Period and Import Mode. For descriptions of the job parameters and variables, see the following topics: Using an Integration Job Type Run a Pipeline For information about creating a Pipeline definition, see Using the Pipeline. Note: This job is prevented from starting during daily maintenance, whether it's a scheduled job or a job that is started on an ad hoc (unscheduled) basis. Other Jobs

Job Type	Description
Auto Predict	Runs an Auto Predict job definition. When you run the prediction job, historical data for each member in the Auto Predict definition is retrieved and then analyzed using time series forecasting techniques to predict the future performance for these members. Running the prediction as a job is useful when you have large amounts of data to predict or when you want to keep prediction results up-to-date as part of your planning and forecasting cycle. Change Hybrid Configuration	Enables the Hybrid option in Essbase BSO application.
Clear Cell Details	Clears user selections for clearing supporting details, comments, and attachments See Auditing Overview.
Convert 1.0 Dashboards to 2.0	Converts Dashboard 1.0 to Dashboard 2.0. See Creating and Managin Dashboards 1.0 and Creating and Managing Dashboards 2.0.
Copy Data	Copies data from one dimensional intersection to another, including relational data and supporting detail. See Copying Data.
Data Map	Job that is created as a result of creating data mappings between a source application and a target reporting application. See Defining Data Maps. Note: Data Map jobs cannot be scheduled from the Jobs console; instead, they can be scheduled from the Data Maps listing page. To schedule a Data Map job: From the Home page, click Application, and then Data Exchange. Cick the Data Maps tab at the bottom of the page. Select a data map, click under Actions, and select Schedule.
Execute Bursting Definition	Runs a report bursting job. If you are using Reports, the bursting feature enables you to run a single report or book for more than one member of a single dimension for one data source, and publish a PDF output for each member. Note: Bursting Definition jobs cannot be scheduled from the Jobs console; instead, they can be scheduled from appropriate listing page in Reports. See Working with Bursting.
Insights	Runs an IPM Insights insight definition. Note: Insights jobs cannot be scheduled from the Jobs console; instead, they can be scheduled from appropriate Insights listing page. See Configuring IPM Insights.
Invalid Intersection Reports	Runs a report that shows where data exists at invalid intersections. Note: Invalid Intersection Reports jobs cannot be scheduled from the Jobs console; instead, they can be scheduled from the Reports tab on the Invalid Intersection Reports page. Smart Push	Uses Smart Push to move data from one cube to another. See Moving Data from One Cube to Another Using Smart Push.
