Site evaluation order becomes important when the defined sites are not mutually exclusive, i.e. there are pages that fall into more than one site. Rules are only run for one site at a time. This means that if a page is associated with more than one site, only the rules for the site with the lowest site evaluation order value where the site conditions have been evaluated as true shall be run.

Ideally, you should implement a URL strategy that ensures that a page is not associated with more than one site. If this is not possible, then it is important to give some consideration to site evaluation order to ensure that running a rule on a particular page gives the desired result.

There are two methods of reordering sites available within Engagement Engine Editor. These are Reorder Using Drag and Drop and Reorder Using Number.

Reorder Using Drag and Drop

To reorder your sites using drag and drop, click on the Reorder using Drag and Drop link on the Sites screen. This displays the list of sites in ascending site evaluation order. You can change the position of any of the sites relative to the others by dragging the site to a new position on the sites list.

Once you have finished your changes, click on the Save button to confirm your changes. Engagement Engine then displays a notice informing you of all of the sites that have been affected by your changes. Each of these sites must be re-published for the changes to take effect.

Reorder Using Number

To reorder sites using the site evaluation order value, click on the Reorder using number link on the Sites screen. This displays the sites in ascending site evaluation order. You can change the site evaluation order value for any site by changing the number in the text box.

If you click on the Reorder button, the Engagement Engine Editor sorts the sites using any new site evaluation order values you have supplied.

You can undo any changes you have made and return to the Sites screen by clicking on the Cancel button.

Once you have finished your changes, click on the Save button to confirm your changes. Engagement Engine then displays a notice informing you of all of the sites that have been affected by your changes. Each of these sites must be re-published for the changes to take effect.
