You can edit an existing rule by clicking on the rule on the dashboard or by clicking on the rule name on the Rules screen. This opens the Rule Definition screen. The Rule Definition screen contains the same fields as the Create Rule screen and also provides information about the rule version ID, who last modified the rule, and when the modification occurred. You can change any of the details associated with the rule from the Rule Definition screen.

For more details on each of the fields on the Rule Definition screen, please refer to the Create a New Rule section of this document.

Note: If the rule contains an action or condition that is no longer available due to a change in your account settings, Engagement Engine displays this as Action Not Available or Condition Not Available in the relevant action or condition Canvas.

To change the details of any of the conditions or actions associated with the rule, click on the down arrow on the left-hand side of the relevant condition or action. This displays the configuration options for the condition or action, and you can change these as required.

If you wish to remove a condition or action from the rule, then click on the X button in the right-hand side of the relevant condition or action.

Once you have finished editing the rule, you can save the rule by clicking on the Save button.

Clicking on the Close button returns you to the screen you came from without saving any changes to the rule.

Clicking on the Revert button undoes any changes you have made and keeps you in the Rule Definition screen.

You can view which sites a rule is associated with by clicking on the Associated Sites button.

If you edit a rule that is already published on a site, the icon displayed in the dashboard and on the Associated Rules section of the Site Definition screen changes to indicate that the rule is now out-of-sync with the published version.

You can click on the icon in the dashboard or you can select the Update Rule on Site option from the action cog on the Associated Rules screen for the site to add the rule to the publish queue for the site. For more information on how to associate a rule with a site, please refer to the Associating a Rule with a Site section of this document.
