The use of archives generated with zfs send for zone migration is discouraged, as Unified Archives simplify the migration process significantly. In the event that a zone needs to be migrated from a system running Oracle Solaris 11.0 or Oracle Solaris 11.1 and the system cannot be updated to Oracle Solaris 11.2 prior to migration, zfs archives may be the best choice.
