This procedure shows how to obtain firmware packages from the Oracle Solaris image packaging system (IPS).
The firmware packages are available in the Oracle Solaris support repository. The publisher URI for Oracle's support repository is https://pkg.oracle.com/solaris/support/.
# pkg list -n 'firmware/system/*T8*'
The first time you install firmware packages from the support repository, you must use the pkg install command. Subsequently, when you need to update firmware packages that were installed from the repository, use the pkg update command.
To download the latest firmware updates using pkg for the first time for a T8-1 system:
pkg install firmware/system/T8-1
To update previously installed firmware packages using pkg for a T8-1 system:
pkg update firmware/system/T8-1
If you need a specific firmware version rather than the latest firmware in the repository, you must specify an FMRI that includes the version number. This would have a form similar to firmware/system/T8-1/sysfw9-8@9.8.x.x.
The firmware package delivers the files to a directory with a name similar to /var/firmware/system/T8-n/sysfw9-8/pnnnnnnn_nnnx/Firmware/Sun_System_Firmware.
See "Platform Firmware Updates for SPARC Systems" in Adding and Updating Software in Oracle Solaris 11.3 for more information.
Proceed to apply the firmware updates using instructions in Update the System Firmware from Oracle ILOM or Update the System Firmware From the Host.
