Using Oracle ILOM Remote System VNC Console

Oracle ILOM Remote System VNC Console is an implementation of the Virtual Network Computing (VNC) system which enables you to remotely redirect the host server keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) events to a graphical desktop display. This is the default method of accessing the video console on SPARC T8 servers.

See Enable Oracle Solaris Graphics Support to ensure your server has the needed software running in Oracle Solaris to support using graphical applications.

To use Oracle ILOM Remote System VNC Console, start a VNC client such as Tiger VNC on your laptop or desktop computer and specify the SP's hostname or IP address as the target VNC server.

For more information about Oracle ILOM Remote System VNC Console, including requirements and troubleshooting, see Using the Oracle ILOM Remote System Console Plus in Oracle ILOM Administrator’s Guide for Configuration and Maintenance Firmware Release 4.0.x.

Note -  Oracle ILOM also provides Oracle ILOM Remote System Console Plus, but the SPARC T8 servers can only use this application for serial line redirection. The servers do not support the older Oracle ILOM Remote System Console and Oracle ILOM Storage Redirection CLI features.
