Editing an Accrual Type

Prerequisites

To edit an accrual type, you should have:

  • Accrual type business object defined in the application.

  • Accrual business object defined in the application.

  • Adjustment types defined in the application (where the Print by Default and Influence Next Bill Balance check box is not selected).

Procedure

To edit an accrual type:

  1. Search for the accrual type in the Accrual Type screen.
  2. In the Search Results section, click the link in the Accrual Type Information column corresponding to the accrual type whose details you want to edit.
    The Accrual Type screen appears.
  3. Click the Edit button in the Accrual Type zone.

    The Accrual Type screen appears. It contains the following sections:

    • Main - Used to specify basic details about the accrual type.

    • Algorithms - Used to associate algorithms with the accrual type.

    • Objects to Exclude - Used to specify the entities that you want to exclude while accrual calculation.

    • Divisions - Used to specify the divisions to which the accrual type can be associated.

    • Characteristics - Used to define a list of characteristics for the accrual type.

    The Main section contains the following fields:

    Accrual Type Used to specify the accrual type. Not applicable
    Description Used to specify the description for the accrual type. Yes
    Accrual Object Used to indicate the type of accrual object that you want to create while posting the accrual details. The valid values are:
    • Adjustment

    • Custom

    Note:

    At present, you can only create adjustments to record the accruals for the accounts in the application.

    Adjustment Type Used to indicate the adjustment type using which the adjustment must be created while posting the accrual details..
    Note:

    The Search (The Search Icon) icon appears corresponding to the Adjustment Type field. On clicking the Search icon, the Adjustment Type Search window appears.

    On specifying the adjustment type, the description of the adjustment type appears corresponding to the Adjustment Type field.

    The Adjustment Type field appears only when you select the Adjustment option from the Accrual Object field.

    Accrual Criteria Used to indicate the bill criteria using which you want to calculate the accrual. The valid values are:
    • Actual - Used to indicate whether you want to calculate accruals based on the actual bill data.

    • Historical - Used to indicate whether you want to calculate accruals based on the historical bill data.

    Accrual Source Used to indicate the source of data that you want to use for calculating the accruals that are based on the actual data. The valid values are:
    • Transaction Feed

    • Trial Bill

    Note: This field appears only when you select the Actual option from the Accrual Criteria field.

    Note: This field is required for calculating accruals using the actual data.
    Historical Bill Count Used to specify the number of historical bills that you want to consider for calculating the accrual.
    Note: This field appears only when you select the Historical option from the Accrual Criteria field.

    Note: This field is required for calculating accruals using the historical data.
    Accrual Request Business Object Used to indicate the business object using which you want to create the accrual request.
    Note:

    The Search (The Search Icon) icon appears corresponding to this field. On clicking the Search icon, the Business Object Search window appears.

    On specifying the business object, the description of the business object appears corresponding to the Accrual Request Business Object field.

    Approval Required Used to indicate whether approval is required for the accruals which are created using the accrual type. No
    Approval Profile Used to indicate the approval profile which you want to use for approving the accruals which are created using the accrual type.
    Note: This field appears only when the Approval Required check box is selected.

    Note: This field is required for approving the accruals.
    Hierarchical Approval Used to indicate whether multi-level or single-level approval is required for the accruals which are created using the accrual type.
    Note: This field appears only when the Approval Required check box is selected.

    Note: This field is required for specifying the hierarchy using which you want to approve the accruals.
    Submitter To Do Type Used to indicate the To Do task assigned to the To Do type for the approver who can resubmitting the accrual for approval
    Note:

    The Search (The Search Icon) icon appears corresponding to this field. On clicking the Search icon, the To Do Type Search window appears.

    On specifying the submitter To Do type, the description of the submitter To Do type appears corresponding to the Submitter To Do Type field.

    The Submitter To Do Type field appears only when the Approval Required check box is selected.

    Yes (Conditional)
    Note: This field is required for approving the accruals.
    Submitter To Do Role Used to indicate the To Do role of the approver who can resubmit the accrual for approval.
    Note: This field appears only when the Approval Required check box is selected.
    Yes (Conditional)
    Note: This field is required for approving the accruals.
    Type of Day Used to indicate the type of day for which you want to calculate the accrual amount.
    • Business Day

    • Calendar Day

    Note:

    If the Business Day option is selected, the system calculates the accrual amount using the following formula:

    Accrual amount = (Sum of resulting bill amount / Total number of business days from previous bills) * Number of business days for the current billing cycle.

    If the Calendar Day option is selected, the system calculates the accrual amount using the following formula:

    Accrual amount = (Sum of bill amount / Total number of calendar days of previous bills) * Number of calendar days for the current billing cycle.

    Posting Method Used to indicate the level at which you want to calculate the accruals. The valid values are:
    • Bill Level - Used to indicate that the accrual is created to calculate the bill segments and adjustments of bills at the bill level.

    • Bill Distribution Code Level - Used to indicate that the accrual is created to calculate the bill segments and adjustments of bills at the distribution code level.

    • Price Item Level - Used to indicate that the accrual is created to calculate the bill segments and adjustments of bills at the price item level.

    • Price Item Distribution Code Level - Used to indicate that the accrual is created to calculate the bill segments of a particular price item at the distribution code level.

    Proration Required Used to indicate whether you want to prorate the accrual amount for the trail bills and historical bill segments for the recurring and non-recurring charges using different posting methods. It is calculated using the below formula:

    Expected accrual amount for each price item = (Sum of resulting bill segment amount / Total number of days) * Number of days in the accrual cycle

    Note: This field appears in the following scenarios:
    • When the Actual and the Trial Bill options are selected from the Accrual Criteria and the Accrual Source fields respectively.

    • When the Historical option is selected from the Accrual Criteria field.

    Calculation Lines Required Used to indicate whether you want to view the bill segments and adjustments which are used for calculating the accrual amount.
    Note:
    You can view the accrual calculation lines in the Accrual screen only when the following conditions are satisfied:
    • Accrual is created using the batch process and not manually from the user interface.

    • Accrual is created using an accrual type with either of the following combinations:
      Accrual Criteria Accrual Source Posting Method
      Historical - Bill Level
      Historical - Bill Segment Level
      Actual Trial Bill Bill Level
      Actual Trial Bill Bill Segment Level
    • When the Do you want to insert detail level calculation? parameter in the Accrual Calculation (C1_​ACCR_​CAL) algorithm is set to Y.

    The Calculation Lines Required check box is by default selected and cannot be unchecked if you select the Bill Distribution Code Level or the Price Item Distribution Code Level option from the Posting Method field.

    Price Item Accrual Criteria Required Used to indicate whether accrual criteria is required for calculating accrual at the price item level. No
    Cancel Reason Used to indicate the cancel reason that you want to use while reversing the accrual. The valid values are:
    • Broken Payment Arrangement

    • Credit Note

    Note: The list includes only those values which are specified in the ACCR_​CAN_​RSN_​CD lookup field.

    Contract Type Used to indicate the contract type whose contract exists on the accounts.
    Note: The Search (The Search Icon) icon appears corresponding to this field. On clicking the Search icon, the Contract Type Search window appears where you can select the required contract type.

    Applicable for Account Used to indicate whether the Accrual Type is used to calculate accruals at the account level.
    Note:

    If you do not select the Applicable for Account check box, the system will consider the accrual type to calculate accruals at the division level.

    This field is disabled when you are editing an account level accrual type (i.e. when the Applicable for Account field check box is selected).

    Yes (Conditional)
    Note: This field is required for indicating the accrual type can be associated to an account and not the division for calculating accruals.
  4. Modify the required details in the Main section.
  5. Associate or disassociate algorithms from the accrual type.
  6. Add, edit, or remove the excluded entities from the accrual type.
  7. Associate or disassociate divisions from the accrual type.
  8. Define, edit, or remove characteristics from the accrual type.
  9. Click Save.
    The changes made to the accrual type are saved.
    Note: You can edit an accrual type only when the accrual type is not yet used for creating an accrual.
