In a single-switch configuration, a switch and a filler are installed side-by-side. Before you install a single switch, you must determine if the switch is to be on the left side or right side of the rack.
Note - The single switch can be installed on either the left or the right. For procedures and illustrations in this document, the switch is installed on the right side.
The single-switch installation procedure entails many steps that are left- or right-biased. After installation, swapping the left and right mounting is not trivial. Determine your long-term mounting side before installing.
Determine what other components in the rack must interconnect with the switch. Are the cable paths and connectors left- or right-biased?
Some racks have cable management hardware to one side. Would it be advantageous to mount the switch on that side of the rack?
