Doing Supportive Software Tasks
After installing a new CMC, fabric card, fabric card filler, or line card, the firmware might not be the same as the existing components. Additionally, a newer version of the firmware for these components might become available. You must upgrade the firmware of the respective components, so that they have identical firmware versions.
When you upgrade the CMC firmware to version 1.0.2 or higher, ILOM 3.0 support is also installed. With ILOM support, upgrades of CMC, fabric card, fabric card filler, and line card firmware become a much simpler task. For instructions to upgrade firmware through ILOM, see the Sun Datacenter InfiniBand Switch 648 Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) 3.0 Supplement, part number 821-0896.
