Remove or Replace a Battery

The blade server ships with a battery installed. The battery preserves CMOS settings in the event of power loss.

The battery must be type CR1632, with a minimum of 4ma abnormal charging current rating. The following lithium disk batteries (3V, 125MA) are approved for blade servers:


Caution

Caution - Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries properly in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and local regulations.


  1. Remove the blade server.

  2. Locate and remove the battery from the blade server.

  3. Slide the new battery into the holder with the side labeled “+” facing up.

  4. Move the RTC jumpers to reset the RTC registers used for manageability engine.

  5. Wait at least one second for the RTC settings to reset, then move the jumper housing back to the default position.

  6. Install the blade server.
