PS2 keyboard

The program description deals with the following:

Remarks on program function

The data for keyboard type PS2 can be updated, i.e. programmed, changed or cleared, with this program. Data which already exists can also be displayed for information.

The interface and link to a processing unit should be defined and the device-specific operating mode set.

Note:
The MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application permits configuration of 3 different generic entry devices, two for connection to the PS2 interface and one for connection to the COM interface.

·        PS2 keyboard ( -> PS2 interface)

·        Generic PS2 device ( -> PS2 interface)

·        Generic COM device ( -> COM interface)

General tips and examples of configurations for these devices can be found in the Configuration generic keyboard and input devices.

Keyboards of type PS2 are POS keyboards which are connected up via the PS2 port of a system unit. The keyboard type has to be defined in update program PS2 keyboard type and the key codes entered in program PS2 key assignment. The function keys required for operation of the POS software should be defined in program Keyboard.

If additional devices, e.g. magnetic card reader, central lock, waiter lock, etc. are to be connected to this keyboard, the appropriate key codes must be entered in program PS2 device data format.
