Email Campaign Designer - Targeting

Important: Campaign Designer is now generally available. It replaces the Campaign Workbook for all channels except MMS. This change does not affect Classic Campaigns.

To see how the Email Campaign Designer differs from the old email campaign workbook, see Email Campaign Designer changes. For a breakdown of the new Campaign Designer's visuals, see Email Campaign Designer visuals overview.

An important initial step when designing your campaign is choosing who will receive your campaign. A campaign is more effective when it is sent purposefully to a targeted audience. If your campaign's audience is too broad, and its message too general, recipients might not feel like you sent the message with them in mind. You can go even further with your targeting by adding dynamic content to your email message.

Note: To change the profile list for the campaign, use the Data sources section or About your campaign section.

To configure the Targeting section of your campaign:

  1. In the Campaign Designer, click An image of the Expand icon Expand in the Targeting section.
  2. Under Whom to include, select one of the following options:
    • Everyone in the selected audience.

Important: This selection is only available if you have Audience or CX Audience enabled for your account.

    • Everyone in any of the selected filters. With the Object Search Picker, Oracle Responsys will make suggestions based on relevance as you begin to type.
    • Important: The Object Search Picker is only available if it is enabled for your account.

    • Everyone associated with a supplemental table or view. With the Object Search Picker, Oracle Responsys will make suggestions based on relevance as you begin to type.
    • Important: The Object Search Picker is only available if it is enabled for your account.

    • Everyone in the selected profile extension table.

Important: This option is only available if it is enabled for your account.

    • Everyone in the profile list.

Warning: Use this option with caution because selecting it means your target audience won't be narrowed for your campaign.

Important: This option is only available if it is enabled for your account.

  3. (Optional) Under Whom to exclude, configure which contacts should be excluded:
    • Everyone associated with supplemental tables or views. With the Object Search Picker, Oracle Responsys will make suggestions based on relevance as you begin to type.

Important: The Object Search Picker is only available if it is enabled for your account.

    • Everyone with these email domains.
  4. (Optional) Select a seed list.

Seed list recipients receive the campaign when it is launched, but are excluded from the Live Report and are not visible in campaign preview. You need to create the seed list before selecting it.

  5. To discard any changes, click Cancel in the Targeting section. To save your changes, click Save in the Targeting section.
  6. Once you've configured the Targeting section, set the additional settings for your campaign
