For demonstration and evaluation purposes, ATG Content Administration is configured by default to run using the SOLID database server. There’s no database configuration required to run ATG Content Administration in this way.
After you purchase ATG Content Administration, you should install the database you intend to use for your non-demonstration environment so you can begin creating assets for your Web site. If you choose instead to develop your application on SOLID, you cannot export the versions of your assets and import them to your chosen database.
After the database is installed, you configure it as follows.
Point the ATG Content Administration server’s data source to an empty database. For details, see the discussion on JDBC in the ATG Installation and Configuration Guide.
Note: The ATG Content Administration server requires its own database instance, which you must use to store versioned assets when development is complete.
Create and configure the ATG Content Administration and ATG Business Control Center tables for the database. See Create ATG Content Administration Tables.
