You can specify an asset placeholder as the subject for an individual task within a workflow. This behavior allows users to navigate directly to the appropriate asset editing screen from the Tasks tab, thereby minimizing the number of clicks required to make to complete the task.

For example, assume you create a press release project as described earlier, declaring a Press Release asset placeholder at the beginning of the workflow. You can add an Author task to the workflow and specify the Press Release asset placeholder as the subject of that task. When a user displays the Tasks tab for that project, the link associated with the Author task takes the user directly to the edit screen for the asset that is the task’s subject.

To set up a task subject, complete the following steps:

  1. In the ACC, display the workflow you want to change. For example: Publishing > Project > standard.wdl

  2. Add a Declare Asset action as described earlier in Declare Asset Workflow Action.

  3. Create a task element or right-click an existing one—for example, right-click the Author task element. The Task Details dialog box appears.

  4. In the Task Subject field, select the name of the asset placeholder you declared in step 2.

  5. Save the workflow.
