System fails to boot after upgrading from SW 1.3 to SW 1.6 or SW 1.7

Bug ID 16868222

If your server is equipped with a Sun Storage 8-Port 6Gbps SAS-2 PCIe HBA (Internal), before upgrading from SW 1.3 to SW 1.6 or SW 1.7 you must first upgrade the firmware on your Sun Storage 8-Port 6Gbps SAS-2 PCIe HBA (Internal) to version 11.05.02.00 or newer.

Otherwise the server repeatedly reboots shortly after initializing the Sun Storage 8-Port 6Gbps SAS-2 PCIe HBA (Internal).

Affected Hardware:

  • Sun Fire X4170 M2 Server

  • Sun Fire X4270 M2 Server

Workaround:

Upgrade the firmware on your Sun Storage 8-Port 6Gbps SAS-2 PCIe HBA (Internal) to version 11.05.02.00 or newer before updating to SW 1.6 or SW 1.7.

If you upgrade from SW 1.3 to SW 1.6 or SW 1.7 and your server fails to reboot properly:

  1. Downgrade your server to SW 1.3.

  2. Upgrade your Sun Storage 8-Port 6Gbps SAS-2 PCIe HBA (Internal) firmware to version 11.05.02.00 or newer.

  3. Upgrade your server to SW 1.6 or SW 1.7 or newer.
