The left pane of the Promotions Visibility window lists enabled, active (not expired) promotions, divided into three sections.

To view a list of promotions in the Applied, Not Applied, or Ineligible section, click the arrow next to the section’s name.

Click a promotion in the left pane to display details about that promotion in the right pane. Promotion information is divided into two tabs.

  • The Evaluation Tab displays results of stacking rule and condition & offer statement evaluation for the selected promotion.

  • The Details Tab displays information about the selected promotion.

You cannot change any information directly in the Promotions Visibility window but you can click links (for example, stacking rules, promotion upsells on the Details tab or SKUs on the Evaluation tab) or the Edit button to launch an editing window where you can make and save changes to the promotion. See Editing Promotions for more information.

You can view the following information about a promotion in the Promotions Visibility window. For more information about any of these items, see Creating Promotions.

Evaluation Tab

The following table describes the UI components of the Promotions Visibility window’s Evaluation tab.

Item

Description

Stacking Rules

Stacking rules are evaluated first for every promotion.

If the stacking rule passes, promotion evaluation continues and the Stacking Rules section of the Evaluation tab displays a confirmation message.

If the stacking rule does not pass, promotion evaluation stops and the Stacking Rules section of the Evaluation tab displays a description of the problem. For example, a message might inform you that another promotion of the same type was already applied.

For more information about stacking rules, see Managing Promotions with Stacking Rules.

Preliminary

For item discount promotions that have passed the stacking rule evaluation, Merchandising checks that the shopping cart contains items that are valid as targets and qualifiers for the promotion. (Order discount and shipping promotions skip this step and go straight to the Condition/Offer evaluation. )

If the shopping cart contains valid targets or qualifiers, evaluation continues and the Preliminary section of the Evaluation tab displays a confirmation message.

If the shopping cart does not contain valid targets or qualifiers, evaluation stops and the Preliminary section of the Evaluation tab displays a description of the problem.

For more information about item discounts, see How Promotions Work.

Condition/Offer

Merchandising evaluates condition & offer statements for every promotion that has passed the Stacking Rules evaluation and, if it is an item discount promotion, the Preliminary evaluation.

The Condition/Offer evaluation determines whether the condition for a promotion has been met. For details about the information displayed in this section of the Evaluation tab, see Condition/Offer Evaluation.

Condition/Offer Evaluation

The Condition/Offer section of the Evaluation tab specifies whether the condition for a promotion has been met and displays information about how items in the shopping cart relate to the condition and offer. Condition & offer statements are evaluated for every promotion that has passed the Stacking Rules evaluation and, if it is an item discount promotion, the Preliminary evaluation.

Depending on the promotion type, template, and structure of the condition, the Condition/Offer section can display any of the following types of detailed information about items in the shopping cart:

The Advanced tab allows you to configure filters that restrict how promotions are applied to items. Some filters can apply to any promotion type; others apply to only item type promotions.

Advanced filters change whether items are considered when determining whether a particular shopping cart qualifies for a promotion. Filter settings can be changed as part of your Commerce application (see the Qualifier Class chapter of the Commerce Programming Guide for details). Merchandising reads the settings that are in place in your Commerce application and uses those as the default. You can override those settings for individual promotions.

Note: Detailed information is displayed only for items, not for other aspects of the promotion. For example, suppose you are testing a promotion that applies a 15% discount to all orders that include $100 in accessories and are placed by shoppers in the Fashionista user segment. The Evaluation tab displays information about the items in the shopping cart and how they affect the promotion. No information is displayed about the scenario that determines that only shoppers in the Fashionista segment qualify for the promotion.

Depending on the structure of the condition, Merchandising may need to perform the Condition/Offer evaluation more than once. For these promotions, the Evaluation tab displays the results of each iteration in a separate Condition/Offer section. For example, suppose you are testing the following promotion: “Buy 2 bath towels, get 50% off a hand towel,” and the shopping cart contains four bath towels, four hand towels, and a bath mat. The system applies the discount twice, once per iteration as the condition is met and valid targets are found. Within each condition/offer evaluation items will be filtered out from acting as condition items or offer items.

If the condition & offer statement does not pass, promotion evaluation stops and the Condition/Offer section of the Evaluation tab displays the message Not Applied.
