Cable the ZFS Storage Appliance

After installing the ZFS storage controllers, disk shelf, and CMA, follow these steps to cable the ZFS storage appliance components to each other.

  1. Label both ends of the ZFS storage appliance cables.
  2. Connect the cables to the ZFS storage appliance components as specified.

    For specifications, see ZFS Storage Appliance Cabling Reference.

  3. Connect the power cords to the ZFS storage appliance components.
  4. Route the cables and power cords through the ZFS storage appliance CMA.

    Refer to the ZFS Storage ZS3-ES Appliance Installation Guide. See Hardware Installation Documents.

  5. Connect the ZFS storage appliance power cords to the storage rack PDUs.

    See ZFS Appliance Power Cord Connection Reference.

  6. Verify that server standby power is on, and that there are no fault indicators illuminated.
  7. If the ZFS storage controllers do not start up, press the switches located on the front of the two ZFS storage controllers.
  8. Wait several minutes for the ZFS storage appliance to initiate services.
  9. Inspect and verify the ZFS storage appliance hardware.

    If you detect any problems, correct them before continuing with the installation. Refer to the ZFS Storage ZS3-ES Appliance Service Manual. See Hardware Installation Documents.

  10. Go to the next installation task.
