Installing Expansion Racks

Note - For information about preparing the site for expansion racks see Preparing the Site (Storage Rack and Expansion Racks).

  1. Position the expansion racks adjacent to SuperCluster M6-32.

    See Hardware Installation Task Overview.

  2. If you are installing quarter racks, you must install an IB switch (spine switch) in each quarter rack in U1.

Refer to the IB switch documentation for installation instructions. See Hardware Installation Documents.

  3. Connect the expansion rack power cords to facility power and apply power.

This action enables the expansion racks to initialize while you perform the remaining installation steps. Refer to the Sun Rack II User's Guide. See Hardware Installation Documents.

  4. In the storage rack and in each expansion rack, remove factory installed leaf and spine cables so that ports are available to connect the racks together.

Remove the cables listed in this table.
