iBeacon is a trademarked indoor proximity system from Apple Inc. that are low-powered, low-cost transmitters that can be detected by nearby iOS devices which can then notifies an iOS app about what the iBeacon is transmitting. This iBeacon technology enables a smart phone or other device to perform actions when in close proximity to an iBeacon transmitter.
In CRS-IUA, the iBeacon feature consists of three workflows which are initiated when the user:
opts-in to in-store notifications
receives in-store notifications within the store as iBeacons are encountered
requests help from an associate.
