This section details the implementation of the iBeacon feature in CRS-IUA. There are four main features of this implementation:

  1. A notification is presented to the shopper that can be tapped. Tapping the notification can display a link that can be internal to the application like a brand landing page or an external link that launches Safari.

  2. For example, IUA displays a tappable link to a Category or Brand Landing page when the shopper is within range of the iBeacon for a shopper who has opted in to the iBeacon capabilities.

When the shopper enters the physical store, the app detects one of the store’s iBeacon and when the shopper comes in range of the Housewares department, the app displays an alert for the Style by Zhanna brand. This alert had been configured by the merchandiser who set up a Style by Zhanna alert for this event. When the shopper touches the alert, the Style by Zhanna brand landing page displays.

  3. A specific scenario can be configured, for example to grant a promotion and send a push notification such as granting that promotion when a shopper is within range of the iBeacon.

In one example, a merchandiser creates a 10% off next order promotion in the BCC and the administrator has configures a scenario so that a shopper is granted the 10% off next order promotion when they walk within range of the iBeacon. When the shopper has opted in and enters the physical store, the IUA app detects the store’s iBeacon and when the shopper comes in range of the store entrance, an alert message lets them know they are eligible for a 10% off next order.

  4. Using the IUA app, the shopper can request help from an associate, or cancel that request. Unresolved help requests can also time out and be deleted.

  5. The sales associate can view a list of known users in ASA.

For example, once a shopper’s CRS-IUA app has been detected in the CRS Store, the sales associate, using ASA, can view that shopper’s name on the list of detected users currently within the store.
