Viewing ARR and MRR Roll Forward Reports

The ARR and MRR roll forward report is an analytics tool to help you monitor and analyze recurring revenue trends.

The roll forward report tracks changes in revenue each month and year. You can see how new sales, upsells, downsells, and churn affect your revenue.

The report also shows starting and ending balances for each period. It provides both summary and transaction-level insights. For information about the detail report, see Recurring Revenue Detail Report.

This makes it easier to spot trends and understand what drives your revenue. With these insights, you can plan better and make informed decisions.

The roll forward report is especially helpful for companies with subscriptions or regular billing.

Roll Forward Report Key Components

  • Data sources - Recurring revenue transactions, including new sales, upsells, downsells, churn, and balances.

  • Visualization - Summary tables and detailed transaction views of revenue changes, starting and ending balances, and revenue movement types.

  • Filters - Metric (ARR or MRR), subsidiary, customer, item, department, class, and location.

  • Reporting periods - Start and end periods for analyzing revenue changes over time, up to 36 months.

  • Drill-down capability - Summary amounts with clickable links to transaction-level details for each revenue movement.

  • Export options - CSV export of summary and detailed data for further analysis.

To drill down into the roll forward reports, you require the following:

When generating the report, note the following:

  • Reports include subscription records with inactive items if they match the user's selected subsidiary, customer, class, department, or location. Inactive items can't be filtered through the Item filter.

  • If you encounter errors during CSV import, try reducing data size using the dashboard filters.

To view the revenue KPI scorecard:

  1. Go to Subscription Metrics > Revenue Metrics > View.

  2. From the Metric filter, select ARR or MRR.

  3. (Optional) Apply the applicable filters.

  4. Select the start period and end period you want to review.

  5. Review the summary report and drill down into specific amounts for transaction-level details.

    You can export details to CSV if needed.
