Consider the following population rules when installing, upgrading, or replacing DIMMs in a processor module:
There are 32 DDR3 DIMM slots on each processor module.
On each processor module, 16 DIMM slots (four banks, with four DIMM slots in each bank) are associated with CMP0. The other 16 DIMM slots (four banks, with four DIMM slots in each bank) are associated with CMP1. The figures in the following topics show which DIMM slots are associated with which CMP.
Four DIMM capacities are supported: 4-Gbyte, 8-Gbyte, 16-Gbyte, and 32-Gbyte.
All DIMMs installed in the server must have identical capacities (all 4-Gbyte, all 8-Gbyte, all 16-Gbyte, or all 32-Gbyte).
All DIMMs associated with each CMP must be identical (identical capacity, identical architecture).
To identify DIMM architecture, see DIMM Rank Classification.
Any DIMM slot that does not have a DIMM installed must be populated with a DIMM filler.
