HBA Does Not Correctly Map Ethernet Settings on a Sun Blade X6250 System

Issue: If you install the HBA in a Sun Blade X6250 system (32-bit) that uses the Oracle Solaris 10 01/13 OS, the Ethernet port mapping in the HBA will be incorrect, based on the listed order described in the Sun Blade X6250 system documentation.

Workaround: Verify the actual Ethernet port mapping for the HBA.

To Verify the Ethernet Port Mapping for the HBA

1. Use the ifconfig e1000gdevice-instance-number plumb command to verify which e1000gdevice-instance-number modules are plumbed to the Ethernet ports of the HBA.

   ifconfig e1000gdevice-instance-number plumb
   

2. Use the ifconfig -a command to list the MAC addresses of the Ethernet ports.

   This will help you identify whether the device is an HBA Ethernet port or any other Ethernet port.

   ifconfig -a
   

   The designator for the HBA Ethernet port has a MAC address of 00:00:C9:xx:xx:xx.
