When you have finished creating the assets for a project, you must indicate that the Author task is complete so the next stage, usually a Content Review task, can start. Deployment is the last task in any project, so the assets can be deployed to the live site only when all other tasks have been completed.

The default project used for targeting contains three tasks:

To indicate that the Author task is complete, select Ready for Review from the Task Action menu, as shown, and then click Go.

The Task Action menu is located at the top of the targeting UI, as shown in the image in The Targeting Interface.

The Content Review task is now active. At this point, you move out of the targeting interface and into the project interface, which is part of ATG Content Administration:

To indicate that the Content Review task is complete, select Approve Content from the Select Action menu, as shown below, and then click Go.

After you mark the Content Review task as complete, fields appear for the Deploy Now or Later task, which is now the current task.

Select either Deploy Now or Deploy Tonight to indicate the project is ready to be deployed. Note that deployment may occur immediately, but depending on your configuration, deployment may be delayed until a scheduled time.

If deployment targets have not yet been configured for your environment, an error appears if you select Deploy Now. In this case, select Deploy Tonight. The project will be deployed when your targets are initialized.

For more information on the deployment task, refer to the ATG Content Administration Programming Guide.
