The way you enter values depends on the type of property you are working with. Some of the more complex property controls, for example controls for properties that can contain more than one value, are described below.
Most date fields contain a calendar you can use to select a date. When you specify a date through the calendar, note that you are also specifying a time of day. By default the current time is entered, which may not be the time you want. Make sure you change the time if necessary.
Some properties contain Edit, Clear, and Create controls, as shown:
These controls appear for properties whose value is another repository item type that has properties of its own. For example, a Home Address property could be linked to a repository item type called Contact Info that has properties for address, state, and zip code. Use the Create link to create a new item of the required type (for example, a new Contact Info item). Use the Edit icon to select an existing item. Use the Clear icon to delete the existing entry.
After you specify an entry, it appears next to the Edit icon, as shown:
Click the item name to edit its properties. Bear in mind, however, that editing the properties here changes the item in the underlying repository, which means the change applies wherever this item is used (for example, in other user profiles).
In some cases a number appears as the display for the existing entry, as shown:
The number here is the repository ID for the item to which the property is linked. Again, you can click the number to edit the item’s properties.
Properties that can contain more than one value have an Add button, as shown:
To use this field, click Add, then enter the first value. Repeat for all the values you need to enter. To delete a value, click the Delete icon. Use the arrows to reorder the values if necessary.
Required properties have an asterisk next to their names.
