Before You Begin
You will need a No. 3 Phillips screwdriver for the procedure.

Follow the safety and ESD precautions.
See Safety and ESD Precautions.
-
If installing a switch that has another component directly below and a
component directly above, remove both of that switch's rails at the rear of
the modular system.
Note -
Do not remove these rails if the slot below the switch is
empty.
-
At the front of the modular system:
| Caution -
If installing a switch at slot 35 and a node is not present in slot
34, take extra precautions that rear slide rails are engaged as you
insert the switch.

Carefully slide the replacement switch completely in.
If you did not remove the slide rails earlier, slide them into the
rail guides on either side of the switch.
-
Feed the power cords through the mounting bracket.
| Caution -
Do not plug in the power cords yet.

Tighten the screws that attach the mounting brackets to the
modular system cabinet.

Connect the NET MGT and NET SER cables.
-
Connect the switch power cords to the power supplies.
-
If you removed switch rails, reinstall them, then slide them into
the rail guides on either side of the switch.

-
Reinstall the fiber cable tray.
-
Reattach the fiber cables to the tray.
-
Refer to the switch documentation to power on the unconfigured switch,
and, if needed, update the firmware.
You might need to obtain a patch release (such as 21378426) with the .pkg
images for SP and HOST to update and configure the new switch. In the switch
README, find the instructions to update the firmware on the switch.
-
Reboot the FMM.
-
Activate the switch.
