This section addresses some common questions about search dictionaries and offers suggestions for situations when you should use them—and when you should not use them.

Before adding a custom term to a dictionary, search your existing index for the term and its potential synonyms or alternate spellings. If the search results are satisfactory, you do not need to add the term. If you do add custom terms, keep a list of terms you have added. Whenever you make further changes to the dictionary, search on the previously added terms to make sure that the results are still correct. Always test your changes thoroughly before deploying your index.
