This section provides suggestions for what to do when your search results do not match what you expect to see; for example, a search returns no results at all when results are expected, or does not include expected content items.
Oracle ATG Web Commerce Search offers the following tools for testing and investigating search results:
Dictionary Inspection—Within Search Administration, you can use Dictionary Inspection to view terms in the Search core dictionary and any custom dictionaries you have added, and experiment with processing options to see how they affect indexing. Search Text Analysis shows how a search is interpreted. See Using Dictionary Inspection Tools in this guide
Index Review—Within Search Administration, you can use index Review to report on index metrics (how many items indexed, of what types), and to view individual content items. See Using Index Review in this guide
Merchandising Search Test—From Oracle ATG Web Commerce Merchandising, you can simulate a search performed on a commerce site without having to go to the site itself. More importantly, it allows you to choose search criteria to test, such as search configurations or facets, and the types of test output you want to see. The test output shows detailed search processing information. See Testing Search Queries in the ATG Merchandising Guide for Business Users.
Query Console—Search includes a lightweight sample application you can use for submitting test queries. The JSPs enable you to directly set search attributes that are rarely set by individual queries, in addition to those that would typically be determined by logic in the page or the form handler. See the Sample Application section of the ATG Search Query Guide
