While the Text Processing tab shows how indexed content is analyzed, the Search Text Analysis tab shows how query text is processed by the search engine. To do this, it uses Search Analysis Option Sets, which are analogous to the settings that either appear in your Web site’s search user interface or are configured in your Web site’s form handlers. This allows you to experiment with how these settings affect your users’ searches without having to change your site. It is important to understand that these settings should be configured the same as they are on your Web site if you want to troubleshoot a search issue that you have observed on your Web site. Inspection allows you to vary settings in a controlled, non-production environment in order to determine how best to solve problems or make improvements to your site.
To analyze search text:
On the Search Workbench tab, select Dictionaries from the Show menu.
Go to Dictionary Inspection.
Click Select. In the Select Active Search Project dialog, select a project and environment.
On the Dictionary Inspection page, click the Search Text Analysis tab.
On the Search Text Analysis tab, select the SAO set to apply, if any. If you have not created any, ATG Search uses the default settings.
Enter text for analysis, just as you would if using the search user interface on your Web site, then click Analyze.
You can use wildcards and the following operators in your search text:

Creating Search Analysis Option Sets
To create a Search Analysis Option Set:
On the Search Workbench tab, select Dictionaries from the Show menu.
Go to Dictionary Inspection.
Under Dictionary Inspection, click Search Analysis Option Sets.
In the Search Analysis Option Sets page, click New Search Analysis Option Set.
Enter a name for the SAO set.
Set the SAO options. Details are provided in the online help; to view the description, place your cursor over the icon as shown:
Click Save Options when finished.
Copying Search Analysis Option Sets
If you have only minor changes to make, it may be easier to copy and modify an existing SAO set than to create one. To copy a Search Analysis Option Set:
On the Search Workbench tab, select Dictionaries from the Show menu.
Go to Dictionary Inspection.
Under Dictionary Inspection, click Search Analysis Option Sets.
In the Search Analysis Option Sets page, click the copy icon for an existing SAO set.
Click the copy to edit the name and other details.
Set the SAO options. Details are provided in the online help; to view the description, place your cursor over the icon:
Click Save Options when finished.
Deleting Search Analysis Option Sets
To delete a Search Analysis Option Set:
On the Search Workbench tab, select Dictionaries from the Show menu.
Go to Dictionary Inspection.
Under Dictionary Inspection, click Search Analysis Option Sets.
In the Search Analysis Option Sets page, click the delete icon (
) for the set you want to delete.
