Installation
Overview
This is a summary of the installation
process.
1.
Prepare for installation. |

Review
the safety precautions, guidelines, site checklists, and site requirements.
Ensure that the site is prepared for the installation.
Complete the worksheets.

2.
Begin the installation. |
|
|
Unpack Oracle SuperCluster T5-8.
Place Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 in its allocated space.
Perform preliminary checks before connecting the
power cords.
Verify the hardware by visually inspecting the system.

3.
Power on the PDUs in the rack. |
|
|
Connect
rack power.
Switch on the six PDU circuit breakers located on
the rear of the main PDU (PDU A).
Wait 3 to 5 minutes for power-on self-test device
checks to finish and for all Oracle ILOM service processors to boot.
Verify that server standby power is on for each
SPARC T5-8 server in Oracle SuperCluster T5-8.
Verify that the main power is on for each database
compute mode.

4.
The ZFS storage controllers should start up automatically. |
|
|
If the storage controllers do not start
up:
Press the soft switches
located on the front of the two ZFS storage controllers.
Wait 3 to 5 minutes for the ZFS storage appliance
to initiate NFS services, daemons, and basic services.
Ping the IP address assigned to the ZFS storage controllers
to verify whether the system is up and running.

5.
Start the Exadata Storage Cells. |
|
|
Wait for Oracle ILOM to boot, then either press
the Power On buttons, or turn on the Exadata Storage Servers through Oracle
ILOM. |
|
6.
Start the SPARC T5-8 servers. |
|
|
Press
the soft switches located on the front of the SPARC T5-8 servers.
Verify that power is applied to the Ethernet switch.
Verify that power is applied to the Sun Datacenter
Infiniband Switch 36 switches.

7.
Configure Oracle SuperCluster T5-8. |
|
8.
Finish the installation. |
|
|
(Optional) Install a PCIe card to copy
a database from another server. |
|
|
