You might want to install a supported OS on a compute node or install a different OS on a management node for one of the following reasons:
You plan to remove the preinstalled OS and install a different supported OS. When you ordered the modular system, an OS was preinstalled on the two management nodes. The OS is either Oracle Linux 6.6 or Oracle VM Server with Oracle Linux 6.6.
After your initial shipment, you ordered an additional compute node from Oracle and want to install an OS on it.
Access the Oracle System Assistant GUI to install an OS or to update drivers on a compute node or management node.
For instructions, refer to Launch Oracle System Assistant Locally in Oracle X5 Series Servers Administration Guide or Launch Oracle System Assistant Remotely (Oracle ILOM) in Oracle X5 Series Servers Administration Guide.
If you need to change the default configuration of Oracle System Assistant, refer to Accessing and Using Oracle System Assistant in Oracle X5 Series Servers Administration Guide.
If the compute node has a preinstalled OS, such as Oracle Linux or Oracle VM Server with Oracle Linux, overwrite it. For more information, refer to the Oracle Linux documentation at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37670_01/index.html.
For more information, refer to the product-specific documentation. If the OS is not listed, consult the documentation from your OS vendor.
