Add Nodes Included in Shipment

Use this procedure to install nodes into the modular system. Before doing so, review the slot locations in 3-Phase Power Balancing.

Caution

Caution  -  Due to the combined weight of the frame, components, and nodes, secure the system to the floor (preferred) or lock the casters before adding nodes. Never move a fully populated system by rolling it on the casters or trucking it with any kind of dolly or lift. Moving a populated system poses an extreme risk of tipping, resulting in damage to equipment and injury to personnel. See Secure the Modular System to a Concrete Floor.

Note -  After you install the modular system and add the nodes from your initial order, if later you want to install more nodes, refer to the Netra Modular System Service Manual Supplement.
  1. Unpack the nodes outside the installation location and remove the antistatic bags.

Follow the guidelines in ESD and Safety Precautions.

    Caution

Caution  -  Each node weighs approximately 40 lbs (18 kg), so you must use two persons to lift and support it. Ensure that both persons support the front and back of the node from underneath to prevent damage.

  2. Using two persons, align the node with the empty slot in the modular system.

If an empty slots contain a filler panel, remove the filler panel. See Remove or Install a Filler Panel in Netra Modular System Service Manual Supplement.

image:The graphic shows how two persons align the node with the slot, and insert it into the rack.
  3. Carefully engage the node with the rails on each side of the modular system, then slowly push the node straight forward and completely into the system until the mating backplane connectors engage.
  4. Flip down the levers, and use a No. 1 Phillips screwdriver to tighten the screws on each side of the node.
  5. Install other nodes.
  6. Attach the modular system to a concrete floor.

See Secure the Modular System to a Concrete Floor.
