Operating system support for your J4500 array is dependant on the supported Host Bus Adapter (HBA). The HBA typically includes drivers required for the HBA to work in the supported operating system environment. If the HBA includes hardware RAID support, instructions to configure hardware RAID support for your array will be included with the HBA. Refer to your HBA documentation for a list of supported operating systems and RAID solutions.
An up-to-date list of supported HBAs is listed in the Sun Storage J4500 Array Product Notes (820-3162) available on the Sun documentation web site http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/prod/j4500.array.
If your J4500 array is connected to a server running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or 2008, you need to download and install an updated driver package for Windows Device Manager to properly recognize the array. Go to the Sun software download site:

Click on the View by Category tab, and then choose Systems Administration > Storage Management and look for the appropriate J4500 array downloadable package.
