When a Shared-Address Resource Is Created Using the clressharedaddress Command or a Cluster Node Hosting the Shared-Address Resource Is Rebooted, a Syslog Error, "unable to get device major number for driver" Is Generated (15765209)

Problem Summary: When a SUNW.SharedAddress resource is created using the clrssa command or a cluster node hosting the Shared-Address resource is rebooted, a syslog error, "unable to get device major number for driver" is generated. There is no impact on scalable services functionality as long as all the interfaces of the IPMP groups hosting the scalable address are plumbed. If an adapter that is part of the IPMP group is not plumbed, the autopush functionality to push the scalable services module on top of the adapter is disabled.

Workaround: Verify whether the adapter that is part of the IPMP group hosting the scalable address has the module mcnet in the stream of the device by executing the following command:

# /usr/sbin/ifconfig interface modlist

If not, manually push the mcnet module on top of the device by executing the following command so that mcnet is pushed on top of the device under the IP module.

# /usr/sbin/ifconfig interface modinsert mcnet@pos
