You can rename a file in the media library. If the file is an image assigned to a product or collection, renaming it breaks the connection to the product or collection. Once you save the new name, however, the service checks the name and if the name is formatted correctly, automatically assigns the image. To rename a media file:
On the Media tab, find the file you want to rename and click.
Enter a new name in the Name box.
Do not use the same name as an existing file in the same folder.
Click Save.
