For external users (typically site visitors and customers) you do not usually have to edit profile property values, because the Oracle Commerce Platform does this automatically.
Note: Business-to-business users are configured with external user profiles, which can be configured using the Business Control Center.
For example, as part of creating a personalized Web site, you set up sensors or scenarios that track a visitor’s behavior at your Web sites and change profile properties accordingly, or you could create a Preferences page that updates the profile with information entered in a form. However, there may be cases where you need to edit these profiles. You may have to make frequent edits to the profiles of Business Control Center users or preview users.
To edit a profile, complete the following procedure.
Display the Home page of the Business Control Center located on the appropriate server.
Under Commerce Merchandising, click External Users or for internal users, under Administration, click Access Control.
Caution: If you choose to edit external users, be aware that you are editing live profiles on your production server. See also Viewing Changes Made to External Profiles.
Find and display the profile that contains the value you want to change. See the Business Control Center User's Guide for information on using the Search tab to locate a specific profile.
Change the value as needed.
Click Save.
For more information on editing specific types of property or on editing large numbers of profiles, see the Business Control Center User's Guide.
For information on how to add new properties to all profiles, see the Personalization Programming Guide.
For information on creating and working with agent profiles in Commerce Service Center, refer to the Commerce Service Center Installation and Programming Guide.
Note: If you are using OAM, changes made to user profiles should also be made in OAM. Conversely, any changes made to user profiles in OAM will not be reflected in the Business Control Center.
