Orders Are Used To Create Proposal Contracts

Proposal contracts can only be created using the order transaction. This transaction allows a user to pose eligibility-oriented questions to a customer or prospect. The system determines which packages of goods and services for which they are eligible based on the answers to the questions. If the customer is interested in receiving a package, one or more contracts (real and/or proposal) are created using the Contracts To Create information defined on the selected package.

Note: You must setup campaigns and packages before you can create an order. If you are not familiar with the order transaction, you should take the time to form an intuitive understanding of the concepts described under Sales & Marketing. With this knowledge in place, you can design and set up the campaigns and packages necessary to allow an order to create proposal contracts. Keep in mind that a single switch controls whether real contracts or a proposal contracts are created when a package is selected on the order transaction. This switch resides on Package - Contracts To Create.
Note: A package could create a combination of real and proposal contracts. When a customer elects to take a package of goods and services (via the order transaction), the system creates a contract for each contract type defined on the package's Contracts To Create. It is possible to setup a package to create both real and proposal contracts.
Note: You don't create special contract types for proposal contracts. The contract type on a proposal contract is the same as the contract type on the real contract that's created when the proposal contract is accepted. This is because the business rules on your contract types govern both real and proposal contracts.
