Oracle Commerce Service Center, by default, uses SQL for searching the product catalog. It is possible to extend the search capabilities of the catalog search feature by integrating with Oracle Commerce MDEX Engine.

When you configure your Commerce Service Center using CIM, you can select the option to install MDEX Engine-based Catalog Search. Commerce Service Center uses the Oracle Commerce Experience Manager configuration that you have established for storefront applications, which generates the same search results for the agent as produced for the storefront. Commerce Service Center provides a generic, yet customizable, presentation of the search results.
