Users – Agents are internal users who are given access to Commerce Service Center by an administrator. When internal users are created, they are added to an organization. Organizations have associated roles, which provide different levels of access to Commerce Service Center

Customers are external users. Configuring external user access to different sites or shops is done by creating segments, as described in the Personalization Programming Guide and/or by creating scenarios and targeters, as described in the Personalization Guide for Business Users

Organizations – You group users by making them members of an organization. For example, you might set up organizations that are based on different geographic areas, or on different business units within your company. For additional information on creating and working with organizations, refer to the Business Control Center Administration and Development Guide

Roles – Roles determine the set of rights that are assigned to a user. Once you have created roles, you associate rights and users with the role. Global roles work across all users and organizations, whereas organization-based roles correspond to tasks or specific functions. Similar roles, or roles for a specific application or service, can be grouped into a role folder

Access Rights – Access rights define tasks that the user can perform, for example, creating a new customer profile. Access rights are granted to a role, which is then granted to a user. Commerce Service Center comes preconfigured with several access rights that correspond to agent-specific roles. Assign the appropriate roles to internal users to provide the correct level of access

Sites – An administrator can control an internal user’s access to a site, and as a result, their access to information that is associated with that site. For additional information, refer to the Controlling Site Access section
