Modular System Overview
The modular system includes the hardware and software that you specified and is assembled at the factory and shipped to you. You can expand the modular system later by adding more compute nodes and additional components (such as storage to those nodes) or an additional modular system.
This table lists the hardware and software components in the modular system.

Compute nodes and management nodes
|

Management node software preinstalled at the frame
level.

From 2 to 30 compute nodes supported, and each compute
node can support a choice of OS and virtualization
technology.

Each can be added and removed without any downtime. The
modular system also automatically brings up and configures
each node as it is inserted.

Ethernet switches
|

Two Oracle ES2-64 copper switches, providing one redundant
10-Gb network, with uplinks.

Up to four Oracle ES2-72 fiber optic switches, providing
up to two more redundant 10-Gb networks, with
uplinks.

One direct copper 10-Gb Ethernet uplink to every node in
the system, providing one nonredundant 10-Gb Ethernet
connection to every node in the system.

MPO coupler panels
|
Up to four fiber-optic coupler panels can be preinstalled instead of internal Ethernet fiber switches. The node configurations will determine the number of coupler panels required.

|
Provides the backplane features for nodes, networking, and storage
devices in the system. The FMM manages the frame backplane nodes and
provides a management switch for the management components installed
in the system.

|
An integrated SP. Each switch and
the FMM also contain an SP. The SP has Oracle ILOM firmware embedded on it. |

Precabled
|
Precabled for Fabrics 1, 2, 3, and 4. Fabrics 2 and 3 are
optional.

PDU options
|
22 kVA low voltage, 22 kVA high voltage, 24 kVA low voltage, or 24 kVA high voltage per power strip.

42RU seismic frame
|
42RU high, 1000-mm deep rack.
