Multiple Modular Systems Overview

Use this topic to plan for adding a Netra Modular System.

You can have multiple modular systems running individually under separate management domains, or you can configure multiple modular systems to run as a group managed as a single management domain. Using a single management domain, you can manage up to 8 modular systems (240 servers). For this configuration, ensure that the modular systems are installed close enough so that each system can reach the primary system (Frame 0) using a CAT5e Ethernet cable. The modular systems do not need to be located in the same room.

Note -  For assistance in configuring modular systems into a single management domain, contact MOS.

When you add modular systems to a single domain configuration, each additional modular system does not contain management nodes (only compute nodes). Therefore, two connected modular systems will have 2 management nodes and up to 58 compute nodes.

By default, the original modular system you installed is Frame ID 0, called Frame 0. Each additional system you order arrives configured as Frame ID 0, so you will need to increment each modular system's ID when configuring multiple systems as a single management domain system.
