Connect the Modular System Cables

  1. Ensure that the modular system is secured in its final installation location.

See Secure the Modular System to a Concrete Floor.

  2. Before proceeding, ensure that the main electrical power circuit breakers designated for the system are off.
  3. Connect the PDU input cables to the appropriate power source.

    Caution

Caution  -  The building's main power circuit breakers to the PDU input cables must remain off.

The compliance label applied to the top rear cross-frame member of the modular system displays the electrical rating for the system. You must open the back door to view this label. The label shows a tick mark next to the rating for the modular system. See the location of the label in Confirming Electrical and Power Requirements.

    Caution

Caution  -  It is critical that you use the correct electrical rating for the modular system, depending on which PDU is preinstalled.

If you are installing multiple modular systems, ensure that the modular systems are installed close enough so that each system can reach Frame 0 using a CAT5e Ethernet cable. The modular systems do not all need to be located in the same room.

  4. Connect your data connections to the ports.

Many of the modular system ports have internal connections, but the switch uplink ports and the RJ-45 coupler panel ports are used for external connections. Connect your data connections to these uplink ports. For a detailed list of port assignments, refer to Identifying Port Mapping in Netra Modular System Service Manual Supplement and Identifying Switch Ports in Netra Modular System Service Manual Supplement.

At least one QSFP port must be installed per switch for an external connection. For detailed information on these switches and the RJ-45 coupler panel and port mapping, see Ethernet Switches and RJ-45 Coupler Panel.

  5. Power on the modular system.

See Power On the Modular System for the First Time.

Note -  Ensure that Frame ID 0 is powered on before the other systems in a multiple system.
