Ventilation Requirements

Always provide adequate space in front of and behind the modular system to provide proper ventilation. Do not obstruct the front or back of the system with equipment or objects that might prevent air from flowing through the rack. The modular system draws cool air in through the front of the rack and lets warm air out the back of the rack. There is no airflow requirement for the left and right sides due to front-to-back cooling.

If the modular system is not completely filled with components, the system is shipped with filler panels installed.

The modular system has been designed to function while installed in a natural convection airflow. Follow these requirements to meet the environmental specifications:

  • The modular system's inlet is on the front, and the exhaust is out the back of the system. Take care during installation to ensure that the hot exhaust air that goes out the back of the modular system is not allowed to recirculate to the front inlet side of the system.

  • Allow a minimum clearance of three feet at the front and back of the modular system for ventilation.
