Preview is a tool you can use during test creation that allows you to see your site as specific members of a group would see it when the test is running. Each test group has a separate preview button.
While preview is a useful tool for seeing if your test is set up correctly, it does not work the same as running the actual test. Preview does not do the following:
Preview does not use the participant filter. Anything configured in the Participants tab will not affect the preview.
Preview does not perform logging so reports will not be generated as a result of anything done in the preview.
You cannot preview all types of promotional elements. This is because you must be logged in to access preview, so you cannot preview promotions that are granted at log in or registration.
Preview does not demonstrate how the test will affect site performance.
You cannot preview the site as an anonymous visitor.
Preview is not a complete way of walking through a test. It is recommended that you perform a full test of your ATG Campaign Optimizer test before using the test in production site. You can do this by deploying the test to a staging environment for a full test.
Technical Note: If your system administrator has configured the management module to run full tests as well as preview (such as during evaluation), it is possible to see elements from tests that are running when you preview a test.
Follow these steps to preview a test.
Edit the test and open the Test Groups tab.
Click on the Preview button on the corner of the test group whose test elements you want to preview. The Preview Test Group window opens.
Enter the URL to use for the preview and click on OK.
Note: If you have set a System Default Preview URL or a Test Default URL then these URL will be listed as choices on this screen.
A countdown screen displays while the preview loads. It can take up to a minute for the preview to load. When the count down is complete, the specified URL opens with the test elements running.
End the Preview by returning to the ATG Campaign Optimizer UI and clicking on End Preview.
