Remarks on program function

The data of the internal MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application program of type Position server can be updated, i.e. created, changed or deleted, with this program. Data which has already been stored can also be displayed.

The MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application allows the terminal to the used in a special way for the English market, i.e. as a so-called "UK Pub terminal" (server operation). The waiter can open an itemised receipt at a terminal and can automatically call it up at another terminal after sign-on. The prerequisite for this special operation mode is linkage of a position server to all terminals to be operating in this mode.

The procedure is as follows for setting up terminals in operation mode "UK Pub terminal":

• Create a program under System -> User interface -> Applications for Program type Position server. Enter a free no. and a program name (e.g. Position server).
• A Process unit of type "Oscar Client" should be created without option "Graphic" under System -> Configuration for the program Position server. Enter the name used in program type PositionsServer in field Program name. Please ensure that the spelling is identical. Select the linked system unit on which the program is to be started automatically.
• Link all terminals for operating mode "UK Pub terminal" to the position server by entering the process unit no. under Application -> Organisation -> Terminal -> Add.data in field "Positions Server".
• Define the operation mode "Uk-Pub terminal" in program Application -> Organisation -> Terminal -> Terminaltype by activating the option "UK Pub terminal" in the additional data of this program.
• Please ensure that the options "Journalprinter off" and "Receiptprinter off" and "Subsequent receipt" are on in the linked Printer parameters of this terminal. The effect of this is that receipt print only happens after finalisation on the linked terminal printer.

Remarks on data fields

The following details all options available for update of the basic data.

The following applies to this program:

• The entry mask may differ in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the user program. Some data fields may be missing.
• Some data fields may have defaults or defined selection options so that they cannot be updated in this program.
• The entry mask may contain fields with enforced entries, and in other fields entries may be optional.
• If the data record is updated over several pages of entry masks the dialog window is reached by clicking on the appropriate button with <Mouse key 1>.
• The procedure is the same if you want to call up another update program from this program.
• In some cases you may find the so-called. "Switches" which are either activated or deactivated - depending on the setting - by clicking with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches have a dark top, deactivated switches are lighter.

Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 9999

Enter the number of the application whose data is to be updated. The next free program no. can be automatically found by clicking on button "Next free no.". An information window then opens showing the next free no. which can be used.

If a new data record is to be created, the next free no. should be entered in the Key fields.

If changes or deletions are necessary, the data record should be called up from entry of the no. in the key fields. If the no. is not known, the data record can be selected with function Search.
