Supported Domain Configurations

Use this table to identify your SuperCluster configuration, then review the supported resource allocation activities.


Note -  A dedicated domain can be any Application or Database Domain that is not associated with I/O Domains. For more information about the different types of SuperCluster domains, refer to Understanding the Software Configurations in the Oracle SuperCluster M8 and SuperCluster M7 Overview Guide.

Supported Resource Allocation Activities

All domains are dedicated domains
Plan how the CPU and memory resources are allocated to the domains.
Reallocate all of the resources across domains at the socket or core level (a reboot is required if primary domain resources are changed).
Remove (park) resources from dedicated domains for licensing purposes.

Note -  Parked resources are not available for use by any domains.

Revert to a previous resource configuration.
Remove a CPU or memory configuration.
Mixed domains – some are dedicated, some are Root Domains
(Only applicable to SuperCluster software version 2.6 or earlier)
Activities you can only perform at initial installation, before any I/O Domains are created:
  • Plan how the CPU and memory resources are allocated to the domains.

  • Reallocate all of the resources across domains at the socket or core level (a reboot is required if primary domain resources are changed).

  • Revert to a previous allocation configuration.

Activities you can perform anytime:
  • Configure resources for I/O Domains.

  • Move resources from dedicated domains so that the resources are available to I/O Domains.

  • Move resources between dedicated domains.

  • Remove a CPU/memory configuration.
