CLI Device Management Namespace Summary

Oracle ILOM provides separate CLI namespaces for server management, chassis management, and frame management.

Managed Device
Device Management Namespaces
Applicable Devices and Firmware
Oracle Server
Access the service processor (SP) to 1) monitor the system health; 2) view server component inventory; and 3) configure and view Oracle ILOM administration properties.
From the server SP CLI, you can access the following namespaces:
  • /SP – Use the /SP target to configure Oracle ILOM administration properties and to view log files.

  • /HOST – Use the /HOST target to monitor and manage HOST related properties.

  • /Servers – Use the /Servers target to view and manage existing PDomain configurations on multi-host SPARC servers (/Servers/PDomains/PDomain_n).

  • /System – Use the /System target to monitor component inventory and environmental sensors.

x86 servers
SPARC T and M series servers
Oracle ILOM 3.1 and later
Oracle Blade Chassis System
Access the chassis monitoring module (CMM) to 1) monitor system health; 2) view chassis component inventory; 3) navigate to chassis components (blade server modules, power supplies, storage, and so on), and 5) configure and view Oracle ILOM administration properties.
From the CMM CLI, you can access the following namespaces:
  • /CMM – Use the /CMM target to 1) access the server SPs, 2) configure the Oracle ILOM SP administration properties, and 3) view the audit and event log files.

  • /Storage (3.0 legacy target, visible when enabled) – Use the /Storage target to 1) access and configure the SAS zoning interface, and 2) manage the chassis storage components or storage blade server modules.

  • /Servers – Use the /Servers target to monitor and manage blade server modules as if you were logged into the blade server at the SP level.

  • /Systems – Use the /Systems target to view a top-level summary of system inventory, component health status, and the system log.

  • /CH (3.0 legacy target, visible only when enabled) – Use the /CH target to monitor component inventory, environmental health status, and hardware management at the chassis level. The targets under this target directly correspond to the names of the hardware components.

Note -  The 3.0 legacy targets under the CMM are available (whether you see them or not) to ensure backward compatibility with existing Oracle ILOM user scripts.

Oracle Netra Frame Modular System
Access the Frame Monitoring Module (FMM) to: 1) monitor system health; 2) view component inventory; 3) navigate to computer node(s), and 5) configure and view Oracle ILOM administration properties.
From the FMM CLI, you can access the following namespaces:
  • /FMM – Use the /FMM target to configure Oracle ILOM users and administration properties, as well as to view audit and event FMM log files.

  • /Networking – Use the /Networking target to manage the Network node(s) as if you were logged into the Network node(s) at the SP level.

Note -  The /Networking target might not be supported on all FMMs running Oracle ILOM firmware version 3.2.5. A later firmware version might be required.

  • /Servers – Use the /Servers target to manage the compute node(s) as if you were logged in to the compute node(s) at the SP level.

  • /Systems – Use the /Systems target for a top-level summary view of open problems, compute and networking inventory and health details, and events in the system log.

  • /FRAME (legacy target) – Use the /FRAME target to view inventory status, environments (alarms, LEDs, sensors and so on), and to manage hardware components at the Frame level.
