Copying a Charge Type

Instead of creating a charge type from scratch, you can create a new charge type using an existing charge type. This is possible through copying a charge type. On copying a charge type, the details including the characteristics are copied to the new charge type. You can then edit the details, if required.

Prerequisites

To copy a charge type, you should have:

  • Values defined for the CHG_​TYPE_​SUB_​CAT lookup field

Procedure

To copy a charge type:

  1. Click the Admin link in the Application toolbar.
    A list appears.
  2. From the Admin menu, select C and then click Charge Type.
    A sub-menu appears.
  3. Click the Search option from the Charge Type sub-menu.
    The Charge Type screen appears.
  4. In the Charge Type List zone, click the Duplicate (The Duplicate Icon) icon in the Duplicate column corresponding to the charge type whose copy you want to create.

    The Charge Type screen appears. It contains the following sections:

    • Main - Used to specify basic details about the charge type.

    • Characteristics - Used to define the characteristics for the charge type.

    The Main section contains the following fields:

    Field Name Field Description Mandatory (Yes or No)
    Charge Type Used to specify the charge type. Yes
    Description Used to specify the description for the charge type. Yes
    Charge Type Category Used to indicate the category to which the charge type belongs. The valid values are:

    • Additional taxes

    • Commission

    • Down Payment

    • Fees

    • Premium- Endorsement

    • Premium- New Business

    • Tax

    		 Yes
    Charge Type Sub Category Used to indicate the subcategory to which the charge type category belongs. No
    Tip: Alternatively, you can copy a charge type by clicking the Duplicate button in the Charge Type zone.
  5. Enter the required details in the Main section.
  6. Define, edit, or remove characteristics of the charge type, if required.
  7. Click Save.
    The new charge type is defined.
