Associate Price Items for Relationship Based Pricing in Deal

Oracle Revenue Management and Billing provides the ability to pair two or more price items along with the parameters and their values whose pricing is expected to be same in a deal. It enables you to associate a price item with other price items, and thereby group price items to offer relationship based pricing for the associated price items in a deal. A new zone named Associate Price Items for Relationship Based Pricing is added in the Price Item Relationship screen. On clicking the Add link in the upper right corner of the Associate Price Items for Relationship Based Pricing zone, you can associate one or more price items with the parent price item to offer relationship based pricing in a deal. While associating the price items for relationship based pricing, you can specify the following:

  • Price Item - Indicates the parent price item to which you want to associate other price items to offer relationship based pricing in a deal

  • Date Range - You can specify the association start and end dates which indicates the period for which relationship based pricing is effective for the associated price items in a deal.

  • Parameters and Their Values - You can associate or group two or more price items along with a set of parameters and their values. You can select the parameter using the Parameter Search functionality. While selecting a parameter, the system only allows you to select a parameter which is associated with the parent price item and which is effective on the association start date. Note that the selected parameter should also be associated with the other selected price items and should be effective on the association start date.

  • Division - You can specify one or more divisions for which the relationship based pricing group is valid. You can select a division using the Division Search functionality. While selecting a division, the system only allows you to select a division which is associated with the parent price item.

  • Associated Price Items - You can select a price item using the Price Item Search functionality. While selecting a price item, the system only allows you to select the price item which is associated to the parent price item's division.

While associating the price items for relationship based pricing, the system sets the relationship type of the associated price items using the Associating Price Items For Relationship Type option type of the C1_PRICING feature configuration.

At a time, you can include a set of price items and pricing parameters in only one relationship based pricing group for a particular date range. You can view the relationship based pricing group of the parent price item from the Price Item Relationship screen. A new zone named Associate Price Items for Relationship Based Pricing is added in the Price Item Relationship screen. On clicking the Broadcast icon corresponding to a relationship based pricing group in the Associate Price Items for Relationship Based Pricing zone, the Associate Price Item Relationship zone appears where you can view the associated price items of the group.

The system allows you to edit a relationship based pricing group. However, you can only change the end date of the relationship based pricing group. You cannot delete a relationship based pricing group. However, you can end the relationship based pricing group by updating the end date.

While saving the changes in the Price Item Selection screen in a deal, the system checks whether any of the selected price items is a part of any relationship based pricing group which is effective on the deal start date. If so, the system checks whether all the price items from the relationship based pricing group are selected in the Price Item Selection screen. If so, the system considers all the associated or paired price items for simulation along with other selected price items. If not, the system throws an appropriate error message. You need to then ensure that all associated or paired price items from the relationship based pricing group are selected in the Price Item Selection screen.

If you override or edit a pricing of a price item in a deal, the system checks whether the price item is a part of any relationship based pricing group which is effective on the price assignment start date. If so, the system checks whether all the associated price items from the relationship based pricing group are selected for simulation. If so, the system automatically overrides or edits the pricing of other associated price items to ensure that the pricing offered across all the associated or paired price items in a deal is same. While overriding the pricing of an associated or paired price item, the system creates a customer agreed pricing for the associated or paired price item. Also, while editing the pricing of an associated or paired price item, if the customer agreed pricing is not available for the associated or paired price item, the system creates a customer agreed pricing for the associated or paired price item. Note that the system only automatically overrides or edits the pricing of the associated price items where the price assignment type is set to Regular.
